Jake Paul rocked the MMA world on Thursday after it was announced he signed a multiyear contract with the fast-growing PFL.

In addition to being a fighter within the league, Paul is also donning a new role. He is officially the “Head of Player Advocacy.”

The PFL shared a video of Jake Paul explaining his role in full detail. Essentially, Paul is ensuring he will be marketing fighters through his platform. On top of that, and what might be the most eye-opening, is that Paul will be leading the charge on increasing fighter pay within the organization. In fact, he claims that fighters will receive “a 50% share” of the revenue.

Listen to Jake Paul fully explain everything in the clip below.

The PFL is going into a 50/50 partnership with the fighters, per Jake Paul. That’s massive news for any athlete aiming to become a professional MMA fighter. On top of that, the PFL gives its fighters the freedom to market themselves, whereas the UFC controls sponsorships and takes a large profit from those deals. Paul’s move with the PFL has the potential to give the UFC a serious run for its money.

Dana White has received plenty of flack for how the UFC pays its athletes. It’s genuinely the most lopsided sports organization in terms of pay, as fighters get paid substantially less than the ownership group.

We’ll see how it all plays out, but everything Jake Paul is describing sounds like a win-win situation for professional fighters. There is a reason why the PFL is one of the fastest-growing sports leagues. Now, it appears to have the potential to grow even faster after signing Paul to this wild deal.

Watch out UFC! There might just be a new sheriff in town!
