Jalen Brunson has been with the New York Knicks for two seasons and has qualified for the postseason in one of them. Carmelo Anthony was with the Knicks for six-and-a-half seasons, making the playoffs three times.

Brunson has played in 8 career playoff games with the Knicks while Anthony racked up 21. Despite this, Brunson has already scored more postseason points with the Knicks than Anthony did, with his tally (as of May 9) standing at 591 compared to Carmelo’s 589.

Brunson is also two wins away from taking the Knicks where Melo never could as the team is on the verge of qualifying for its first Eastern Conference finals since the 1999-2000 season, whose team featured the likes of Patrick Ewing, Latrell Sprewell, and Allan Houston.

At the time of this writing, Brunson has played in eight playoff games with the New York Knicks and has scored at least 22 points in all of them, while scoring at least 39 in five of them.

Brunson also put together a run of four straight postseason games with over 40 points and holds the Knicks’ records for single-game playoff points (47) and career playoff 20+ point halves (7).

In Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the 27-year-old point guard finished with 29 points (on 11-18 shooting), 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds.

If the Knicks do advance past the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals, they’ll likely be heavy underdogs against Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Browm and the rest of the #1 seed Boston Celtics, who are currently steamrolling through the playoffs and are also up 2-0 in their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
