First NFL Player Arrested In Las Vegas During Super Bowl Week Recently Signed New Contract

Janarius Robinson Arrest NFL Super Bowl

Janarius Robinson was arrested in Las Vegas on early Tuesday morning. The 24-year-old defensive end was reportedly taken into custody in the valet area at the ARIA resort and casino on the Strip.

Law enforcement charged him with DUI.

Robinson’s arrest marks the first known instance in which an NFL player was cuffed in Las Vegas during Super Bowl week. Obviously, the league will hope that it is also the last.

Further details about the incident are not immediately available, though more information might emerge as the week continues. All we know right now is that it came with unfortunate timing.

Robinson, a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, signed with the Raiders’ practice squad prior to the 2023 season. He was elevated to the active roster in November and played 112 snaps in six games— 78 on defense and 34 on special teams. Despite the minimal playing time, Robinson finished the year with 1.5 sacks, three quarterback hits, and nine pressures.

It was a very strong showing and Las Vegas took note. The organization chose to bring him back on a one-year, $985,000 contract for 2024.

They agreed to the new deal a few weeks ago. It was officially announced on Monday afternoon.

Janarius Robinson was arrested less than 18 hours after the signing was made public. If that.

Unfortunately, further ramifications could stem from the arrest. Fortunately, $638,000 of Robinson’s new contract is guaranteed.

The Raiders could choose to cut him as result of the incident. They may choose to let it slide if he takes all of the proper steps toward something like this never happening again. It is unclear as to whether Las Vegas would still be on the hook financially if they chose to let him go.

Either way, neither the team nor the NFL can be happy with what went down!
