Cris Collinsworth was out of the booth for Sunday Night Football on this holiday weekend, leaving host Mike Tirico with a fill-in partner. That replacement wasn’t the top option for those watching along on TV.

It was Jason Garrett on hand for a SNF matchup between the Chargers and Ravens. His on-air performance already has viewers begging for Collinsworth to make his return.

Collinsworth reportedly spent the Thanksgiving break with his family, though his son, Jac, was on the sidelines for the contest.

His presence in the booth was sorely missed.

Garrett’s been the target of criticism by NFL fans before, with many noting an awkward persona that often leads to uncomfortable interactions with co-hosts. He’s also often heard giggling to fill dead time, which annoys listeners to no end.

Those moments were on full display again Sunday night.

Viewers quickly posted their displeasure with Jason Garrett’s latest SNF performance on social media. Cris Collinsworth’s return somehow can’t come fast enough.

“Jason Garrett is determined to break the Sunday night cliche record tonight.”

“Jason Garrett does this uncomfortable laugh anytime he says anything.”

“Why does Jason Garrett giggle after every comment?”

“I didn’t know how much I needed Cris Collinsworth in my life until they stuck Jason Garrett in the booth.”

“Nothing kills the big game vibe like Jason Garrett. It’s like watching Boogie Nights with your parents.”

“For all those who complain about Collinsworth. ENJOY JASON GARRETT!”

Collinsworth should be back in action in Week 13 for a Sunday Night Football matchup between the Chiefs and Packers.
