Boston guard Jaylen Brown made a hilarious wardrobe mistake in his first preseason game of the 2023 season. The star scorer came out of the locker room with his shorts on backwards and proceeded to play that way for some time.

It didn’t seem to affect his performance as he finished with 19 points to lead the Celtics‘ starting lineup.

An official pointed the goof out to Brown on the court, leading to a reaction from both the Boston bench and the broadcast booth.

The guard didn’t let the laughs get in the way of his mission, though. He was dominant on the offensive end of the court, hitting 70% of his shots, including making one of his two three-pointers, to score 19 points.

That was good enough to lead the starting lineup and finish second on the team behind reserve guard Payton Pritchard.

Brown also tacked on three boards and an assist in his 26 minutes of action.

It seems he fixed his backwards shorts at some point in the contest. As you can see later in the game, the logos are on the correct side of his trousers.

Brown is hoping to help the Celtics get back to the NBA Finals in 2023-24 after falling to the Heat in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals.

The guard is still in search of his first league title after famously saying he wanted to have “five or six” by the time he turned 28 years old. He’ll be 27 before the start of the season, so that dream is long gone.

Still, he’s become a key component in Boston’s success over the last few years, helping the franchise win three division titles, make four ECF appearances, and one NBA Finals series.

He was rewarded for his production with a massive contract extension this past offseason.

We’ll see if he can help the Celtics get over the hump to win their first championship since 2008.
