The floundering New York Jets are making another desperate change at the quarterback position.

According to reports, Gang Green is cutting Aaron Rodgers’ crony Tim Boyle after he put forth consecutive terrible performances in his two starts for the team against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday and the Miami Dolphins the week before.

New York is reportedly signing 27-year-old signal caller Brett Rypien, who was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and started a game for the Los Angeles Rams this season.

In his lone start for the Rams — who have a far better coaching staff than the Jets — completed 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards and an interception, which is the type of stat line NFL fans have come to expect from Jets QBs, so Rypien should fit right in.

The shuffle at the quarterback position not only comes following Boyle displaying his blatant ineptitude in back-to-back losses but reports that Zach Wilson is “reluctant” and “hesitant” to return to the starting lineup despite being asked to do so.

How the 29-year-old Boyle even made his way onto the Jets roster is a bit of a mystery, and he wasn’t even a decent college quarterback. In 36 starts for the University of Connecticut and Eastern Kentucky, Boyle completed 55% of his passes for 3,371 yards, 12 touchowns, and 26 interceptions.

His pro stats aren’t any better, as he’s completed 62% of his passes for 934 yards, four touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in five career starts and 20 total appearances.

With five games left to play this season, the 4-8 Jets still have to face off against the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots.

Despite their disaster of a 2023 season that will end in a 13th-straight postseason-less campaign for the franchise, reports indicate that head coach Robert Saleh, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, and general manager Joe Douglas will retain their jobs thanks to protection from Aaron Rodgers.
