The Michigan Wolverines are on their way to the national championship game after breaking a two-game College Football Playoff losing skid. Sneaking past Alabama in the Rose Bowl, they’ll now gear up for a matchup with Washington.

After picking up that overtime victory, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh’s parents were asked their thoughts. They quickly took credit for UM’s success.

It wasn’t easy for Michigan as they battled the Crimson Tide in an absolute heavyweight bout. Trading blows with Alabama throughout regulation, it took an extra session to come out victorious.

Trailing by a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Michigan tied the game with under two minutes remaining in play. They’d then seal the win with a Blake Corum overtime score and a defensive stand near the goal line.

The Wolverines scored 14 points on their last two true possessions of the game after being held to 13 total points over the first 55 minutes of action. That included being held scoreless in the second half, unable to sustain a drive longer than 21 yards.

So, what changed? Jim Harbaugh’s parents filled viewers in.

“Before the long drive, Jackie decided that we should switch seats,” Harbaugh’s father, Jack, said. “I moved to her seat, she moved to mine, and this is the result that we got.”

As simple as that!

Michigan fans might want that switch to come a bit earlier in the national championship game in order to keep the blood pressure levels down. The Wolverines will face a Washington team in Houston on January 8th with a title on the line.

We’ll see if the Harbaughs can work some more magic.
