Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, in just his second year in the NFL, is going to the Super Bowl.

In doing so, he becomes the first quarterback to reach the Super Bowl as a number one overall pick in his first two years in the NFL.

He also will become the first Ohio State quarterback to start a Super Bowl. At least that is what a bunch of Ohio State fans are claiming.

Burrow was on the Ohio State Buckeyes football team for three seasons, not that anyone watching them at the time would have known it.

He redshirted his freshman year, then spent the next two years as a backup to J.T. Barrett.

After throwing just 11 passes in his sophomore year, and seeing Dwayne Haskins being annointed the next great Ohio State QB, Burrow transferred to LSU.

In his two years at LSU, Burrow played in 28 games, went 25-3 and 15-0 in his senior season when he threw for over 5,600 yards and 60 touchdowns en route to the National Championship and a Heisman Trophy.

So yes, one could say Joe Burrow is a former Ohio State quarterback… technically.

LSU alum Shaquille O’Neal had a reminder for Ohio State fans about Joe Burrow

After Burrow and the Bengals big win to send them to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Shaq posted a photo of the Cincy QB with a quote.

“It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish. I’ll always be an LSU Tiger,” said Burrow. “I don’t know why Ohio State fans try to claim me.”

Ouch, babe.

It’s not all about shade though when it comes to Burrow talking about his time at Ohio State.

In fact, last Wednesday he said some very nice things about his time with the Buckeyes.

“I wouldn’t be the same player that I am today without those trials and tribulations that I went through there,” he said. “I loved my time there and I stay in contact with a lot of people from Ohio State and, like I said, I wouldn’t be the same player. I think I am who I am because of the difficult times that I went through in my career.”

Still, Buckeyes fans can claim him all they want, but he’s an LSU Tiger. Because DR. SHAQUILLE O’NEAL Ed.D. says so.
