John Daly is in Morocco this weekend as a participant in the Champions Tour Hassan II Golf Trophy. Despite being 5,000 miles away from his stomping grounds in Arkansas, he made sure to bring a little piece of home with him.

The golfer ran through a practice round on Wednesday, jamming country tunes the whole way through. Music from artists Brooks and Dunn, as well as recently passed friend Toby Keith blared throughout the course as he impressed bystanders watching along.

“Ain’t as Good as I Once Was,” appropriately played as Daly made his way out of a bunker late in a clip posted by the Champions Tour social media team.

While that may be true in some respects for the golfer who’s been making his pitch to land a spot on the LIV Tour, he’s clearly got a little left in the tank.

Daly looked good in that run through, finding greens and fairways with a cigarette hanging from his bottom lip.

You wouldn’t know he’s been dealing with an injury that forced him to pull out of the Chubb Classic just last weekend. While he wasn’t able to finish his debut tournament of the 2024 season, he hasn’t let that setback slow him down.

Rather than call it quits, he’s fighting through the pain.

John Daly kicked off the Hassan II Golf Trophy event on Thursday.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gone quite as well as what was seen in that Wednesday morning practice round.

Daly ended his first round at three strokes over par, putting him in a tie for 44th place on the leaderboard. He bogeyed four of his first five holes and carried a score of +5 to the 15th tee before making birdie on two of those last four greens.

Daly will hope that late momentum continues into Friday as he attempts to climb up the standings.
