Texas outfielder Jonah Williams is one of the most promising freshman in college baseball. However, he is also the most likely to make you cringe with his behavior at the plate.

His performance against Florida over the weekend was equally as uncomfortable as impressive but he went most viral for his extremely awkward antics.

Williams, a two-sport athlete, was rated as a five-star prospect in the college football recruiting Class of 2025 and one of the 10-best players in the country as the top player at his position. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound safety chose to play for the Longhorns over 32 other offers in large part because they allowed him to also play college baseball in the spring.

Although Williams has only 36 at-bats in 14 games, his playing time has increased over the last few weeks and he is currently hitting .333 with two stolen bases, three walks, seven RBIs and four runs scored. Texas ranked as the top team in the country prior to this past weekend’s series against Florida.

The Gators rolled into Austin and took two of three.

Jonah Williams got up in the order in the seventh inning of Game 1 while the Longhorns were down 8-1. He tried to ignite a spark during the most performative at-bat I have ever seen. Tempers flared on both sides because of his shenanigans. He never even swung the bat. Take a look:

Williams was hit by a pitch earlier in the game, which inspired him to act like a lunatic— but it was so corny. And the score made it even worse. Texas was losing by 7 during the regular season. This wasn’t the bottom of the ninth inning in the College World Series. There is no need to act a fool in that spot!

To Jonah Williams’ credit, he responded well to the criticism and he is always true to himself no matter what. His go-ahead double during Game 2 ultimately proved to be the difference between a win and a loss. It was electric.

However, the Longhorns still lost the series with a second loss on Sunday. It will be curious to see if Williams keeps up his shtick throughout the postseason and eventually on the gridiron.
