The Golden State Warriors may not have their 2021-22 NBA Championship if not for the play of Jordan Poole.

But two years later, Poole is happy to have left Golden State and the Warriors seem more than happy to have him gone.

The Warriors traded Poole and future draft assets to the Washington Wizards over the summer in exchange for future hall of fame point guard Chris Paul.

Now Poole says that he’s happy to be in Washington where he is able to “play my own type of basketball.”

“It’s a bit different, too, like, once your contract is signed and once you got a ring. Essentially everything that needed to be done in Golden State got done,” Poole said in a recent interview with Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. “I got a ring. Made sure my family is straight. A good situation to come in [to Washington] and just kind of have my own team, play my own type of basketball.”

Through seven game this season, Poole has a career-high usage percentage of 29.3%. The Wizards are 2-5 and conceding a league-worst 126.9 points per game.

Fans immediately roasted Poole for the comment. Most believe Poole just wanted to be the centerpiece of a team. Even if it means losing games.

“This man needs to be studied by our top psychologists. His brand of basketball is LA Fitness pick up chucking,” @JDHarness tweeted.

“Bro said putting up 20 a night on a 60-loss team is my brand of hoopin’,” wrote @Mattysmoof.

The Warriors, meanwhile, sit at 6-3 without Poole.

Draymond Green said that the chemistry in Golden State is significantly better this year than last.

Now, maybe that’s due to him not punching a teammate in the face shortly before the season begins.

But it sure seems like not having Poole around doesn’t hurt either.
