Today, the ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown team ran down the list of finalists for the “You Got Mossed” award given to the college or professional player with the best catch of the season. The award, obviously, is named for Hall of Famer Randy Moss, who was well known for making defenders look silly with acrobatic receptions throughout his 16-year career.

Fittingly, the award winner was named on Moss’s 45th birthday.

The 2021 edition included four finalists. Those candidates were Seahawks’ WR DK Metcalf, Chiefs’ DB L’Jarius Sneed, Cowboys’ WR Michael Gallup, and University of South Carolina WR Josh Vann.

Surprisingly, it was the college candidate that beat out three NFLers to land the honor of hauling in football’s best catch of the year.

Vann’s insane highlight reel catch came in a week two matchup between the Gamecocks and national championship winner Georgia. The South Carolina wideout went UP to snag a pass over future NFL Draft pick Derion Kendrick.

South Carolina didn’t win on that day, but Vann’s impressive reception wasn’t forgotten.

He’ll have an opportunity to defend that honor next year in the SEC. Vann is returning to Columbia for one final season in 2022, and he’ll hope to team up with team up with new signal caller Spencer Rattler to lead the Gamecocks to another successful year.
