JT Poston had a miserable end to his final round at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut. One hole cost him upwards of $10,000.

An eagle shot turned into a septuple bogey following an unfortunate turn of events. It resulted in a massive slide down the leaderboard that will prove costly.

Poston entered the day at -5 for the weekend. That put him in a tie for 50th place on Sunday. He then elevated up the standings with a strong front nine. Then, disaster struck.

JT Poston hits septuple bogey at Travelers Championship.

The golfer was having a great day prior to the misfortune. He’d played bogey-free through 10 holes with three birdies. A bogey on 11 set him back momentarily, but he responded with another birdie on 12 to get back to -3 on the day.

His day went south on No. 13.

Poston drilled the fairway with his 293-yard tee shot. He then hit a bunker on his next play. While the landing spot wasn’t ideal, he was within 81 yards of the pin for shot No. 3.

That recovery got up near the green. Things came crumbling down soon after.

His fourth shot found a water hazard, as did his next two. He finally got onto the green with his 10th stroke. He missed a putt on No. 11 before tapping in to record a septuple bogey.

You can watch it play out below. Absolutely brutal.

The hole proved costly.

As mentioned earlier, JT Poston entered the day in a tie for 50th. He was eight-under for the weekend before the tumultuous 13th hole. He would’ve been somewhere around 45th in the standings, a spot that comes with a payout of $64,000.

Accounting for ties and movement on the leaderboard, that probably puts him between $45,000 and $55,000 in winnings when all is said and done.

Instead, he slid to 69th as one of just four players that made the cut to finish below par on the weekend. He’ll take home $38,000 as a result.

Poston finished +9 on his last six holes. He was -8 across the other 66. It was a miserable end to an otherwise successful tournament.
