Chicago Bears‘ quarterback, Justin Fields, is setting ambitious goals for the 2023 NFL season as he aims to make history by becoming the first Bears quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a single season.

In a recent interview on the All Things Covered podcast, Fields confidently declared, “I will. I plan on doing it this year, too. I plan on doing it this year.”

The Bears franchise has a longstanding passing record of 3,838 yards in a season, achieved by Erik Kramer back in 1995.

Despite the evolving landscape of NFL passing offenses over the past twenty-five years, the record has remained intact, making Fields’ objective even more impressive.

Although several Bears quarterbacks, including Jay Cutler and Mitchell Trubisky, have come close to surpassing Kramer’s mark by reaching the 3,000-yard milestone, none have managed to breach the coveted 4,000-yard barrier.

Last season, Fields showcased his dual-threat capabilities by leading all NFL quarterbacks in rushing yards with 1,143.

However Fields tallied just 2,242 passing yards in 15 games. Undeterred, Fields is determined to nearly double that figure this year and propel the Bears’ passing game to new heights.

The Chicago Bears have made significant additions to their offensive weapons, providing Fields with a promising supporting cast. With these reinforcements and his own determination, it’s possible Fields will fulfill his guarantee and rewrite the franchise’s record books.

As the 2023 NFL season approaches, all eyes will be on Justin Fields as he strives to make history and lead the Bears to success with his arm and determination on the gridiron.
