Kate Martin was not in attendance at the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night. She was not selected to the team despite a major influx of fan voting and is currently rehabbing a (seemingly minor) injury anyway.
Have no fear, the Las Vegas Aces’ beloved rookie is doing just fine!
Martin, who was picked No. 18 overall in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft, defied the odds and earned her spot on a roster with a strong showing at training camp. The 24-year-old guard instantly won over her teammates, quickly became one of the most popular players in the league, and earned significant minutes in a few different games during the first half of the season.
Unfortunately, Martin’s hot streak came to an end during Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Sky. She crumpled to the floor after an awkward misstep during the second quarter and immediately grabbed for her ankle.
Fortunately, the injury is not going to end Martin’s season. These next four weeks of rest during the Olympic break will prove extremely valuable for the recovery process.
Matt Martin recently provided an update on his daughter’s injury. What many people initially thought might be a torn Achilles is just a severe bruise to the tendon. He noted that it was “perfect timing,” given the month off.

The injury didn’t keep Martin from having some fun over All-Star weekend. While some of her teammates played in and/or attended the game on Saturday, she flew out to Boston to visit her girlfriend.
Former Iowa classmate Claire Gransee hard launched their relationship on Instagram last month.
They reunited during the break and hit the town on Friday night.
The photo of ‘Money Martin’ in the club is a great sign for fans of the Las Vegas Aces and fans of the league. The WNBA is better when she is on the court and her comeback is clearly right on track.
If Kate Martin is feeling well enough to boogie down in Boston, she will be back on the court in no time!
