Kelly Stafford is not happy with a Detroit group trying to ban fans from wearing her husband Matthew’s Lions jersey at this weekend’s playoff game.

From 2009 to 2020, Matthew Stafford tried to help carry the Detroit Lions to a Super Bowl. The Lions being the Lions, they made it to the playoffs just three times during that span, losing all three times in a Wild Card Game.

In March of 2021, the Lions traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for quarterback Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick and two first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.

On February 13, 2022, the Rams won Super Bowl LVI.

Now, those Rams are visiting Detroit for a Wild Card Game on Sunday and a Detroit group put out a message on social media, basically trying to ban Lions fans from wearing their Matthew Stafford jerseys.

“ANNOUNCEMENT. Please don’t wear a Lions-Stafford jersey to the game,” the Detroit Line wrote on Instagram. “This is not a time to be cute or funny. This is about business and putting the final nail in the SOL coffin. It ain’t personal. Just business!”

Kelly Stafford, Matthew’s wife, didn’t take too kindly to the message, personal or not.

“Well this is sad because it’s the completely opposite of how we feel about this city, but Matthew has always been the bigger person and will continue to be that,” Kelly Stafford she replied. “Praying for an incredible game with zero injuries.”

Considering Matthew Stafford is the Detroit Lions all time leader in passing yards (almost 30,000 more than the next guy), in passing touchdowns (more than twice the next QB on the list), and won more games (74) than any other Lions quarterback, you can bet that there will be some blue and silver #9 jerseys in the stands at Ford Field come Sunday. Nothing personal, of course.
