Kemon Spell remains committed to Georgia despite Miami interest.
Kemon Spell, the nation’s top-ranked running back in the class of 2027, is committed to play football at the University of Georgia. Despite that pledge, nothing is final until the Bulldogs land his signature.
This week, rumors of Miami interest surfaced online. Spell refuses to hold the Bulldogs hostage despite having leverage.
A report from recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong referenced the Hurricanes‘ pursuit of a flip. While that interest is very real, Spell suggests it’s one-sided.
Who is Kemon Spell?
The five-star running back is a Top 10 recruit considered the best player at his respective position. He is currently set to rep the “G,” though he’s previously been committed to Penn State.
A Pennsylvania product, he made a pledge to the Nittany Lions in August of 2024. He re-opened his recruitment following the firing of James Franklin.
After a few visits to Athens, Spell committed to Georgia. He remains firm on that decision.
Back in February, Spell confirmed that he has no intentions of leaving the Bulldogs’ recruiting class. That came three weeks after making his pledge to Kirby Smart.
He’s held true to that word over the offseason. Still, other suitors continue to pursue.
Miami is reportedly chasing a flip. Wiltfong posted an update on the running back’s recruitment this week. There is interest, though Spell insists the Hurricanes’ efforts are useless.

The tailback refused to participate in the online rumor mill. He shut down any whispers of a Miami flip. With that said, he does have leverage to up his NIL deal in Athens.
A few months after Spell’s Georgia commitment, No. 2 ranked running back David Gabriel-Georges announced his pledge to Tennessee. He is expected to become the highest paid recruit at his position in college football history.
Details of his NIL offer went public this summer. He’s believed to be receiving $2 million per year over the course of three seasons with a number of added perks. That’s before ever taking a college snap!
The Vols won a bidding war with Ohio State. Gabriel-Georges will suit up in Knoxville next season. That will pit him directly against Spell when he arrives to campus.
Spell will not be paid as much as Gabriel-Georges. Given his status as the No. 1 running back, he could’ve easily fueled the Miami rumors to land a higher payday. We’ve seen many in his situation trigger bidding wars by leveraging interest from other schools.
He will not hold Georgia hostage. He remains firm in his decision. The outside noise is just that.
Again, nothing is final until pen hits paper, but he appears happy with his NIL arrangement. Until further notice, Kemon Spell is a Georgia Bulldog.
