Arizona Diamondbacks minor league affiliate mocked Kendall George injury.

Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Kendall George returned to the field this week following a knee injury suffered in May. He was mocked by his opposition in his first game back.

Sounds of dogs barking rained down from the loudspeakers during at-bats. The jeering was viewed as classless by George’s supporters.

The outfielder suffered a patellar tendon tear in a freak accident involving a bat dog. The Visalia Rawhide made light of that setback, which cost him a month of the season.

Who is Kendall George?

George was the 36th pick in the 2023 MLB Draft following a decorated career at Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas. He bypassed college to go the professional route. He is viewed as one of the organization’s top prospects.

George is arguably the fastest player in minor league baseball. He stole 100 bases across 111 games as a member of the Great Lakes Lagoons in 2025.

The outfielder has performed well in the minors. He hit .370 in his first year. He followed it up with a .279 average in 2024 and .295 mark last season. As a result, he’s quickly moved up the ranks.

George started his 2026 season with the Double A Tulsa Drillers. He’d gotten off to a hot start, hitting .333 across 43 games. His career was put on a brief hold in May.

During a contest with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, he suffered a knee injury. That setback was unrelated to baseball. George scored a run in the second inning. As he returned to the dugout, he collided with the team’s bat dog.

In his attempts to avoid contact, he landed awkwardly. He was subsequently removed from the lineup and departed to the clubhouse.

After the game, it was revealed that the injury was significant. Since, he’s battled his way back to a rehab assignment.

Kendall George made his highly anticipated return to the field on Wednesday. He hit leadoff for the Single A Ontario Tower Buzzers.

George would go 0-3 with two strikeouts on the day. In the fourth inning, he stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded.

Upon entering the batter’s box, sounds of dogs barking were played across the stadium speakers.

Dodgers fans were critical of the tactic, voicing their displeasure on social media after the fact. Minor league baseball is about fun, at least for the fans and staff. This move came off a bit tasteless.

Ontario would go onto win the game, 13-9. Kendall George will look to bounce back in attempts to continue his rise within the organization.
