Powerlifter Kevin “Oak” Okolie is an absolute beast of a human specimen. At the 2018 USPA Connecticut Spring Classic he set a world record when he squatted 832-pounds in the 242-pound class (without straps) and he’s just smashed his own record and raised the bar even higher.

At the recent USPA Tribute in San Antonio, record-holder Kevin “Oak” Okolie took down his previous record by a full five pounds. He set the new world record for the 242-pound weight class at 837 lbs / 380 kg. For what it’s worth, the record with straps is 914-pounds.

According to BarBend, when they spoke to Oak back in June he’d told them that his plan was to compete in the 220-pound weight class and not the 242-pound class that he ultimately competed in.

At that point in time, he weighed ~233 pounds so it was the natural fit to shred a few pounds instead of trying to put on another 9 pounds of muscle in such a short period of time. But it seems to have worked out perfectly for Kevin who put up an insane amount of weight:

That wasn’t Oak’s only world record of the day. He also set a new combined record in the ‘242 Raw No Knee Wraps division’. The breakdown of that goes Squat 838 lbs (380 kg), Bench 518 lbs (235 kg), Deadlift 821 lbs (372.5 kg), for a total of2,177 lbs / 987.5 kg. In his Instagram caption, Kevin states this is a record he’s been chasing for three years since he broke that total at the 220-pound class:

Just in case you want to feel even smaller, here’s Kevin setting a new personal record back in June at 815-pounds:

From his social media activity, it seems like he picked up a lot of traction by cutting some weight in the Spring.
