JJ Watt recently revealed his decision to retire from the NFL once the 2022 season comes to an end. The star defender broke the news with a post on social media earlier this week.

That post included a picture of him and his family along with the caption, “Koa’s [Watt’s son] first ever NFL game. My last ever NFL home game. My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure.”

The subtle retirement announcement marks the end of a fantastic career. His production will likely land Watt a spot in the Hall of Fame when the time comes. JJ racked up 111.5 sacks over his 12-year tenure, along with 191 tackles for loss which ranks 2nd in the league since 1999 according to Pro-Football-Reference.

He was twice named Defensive Player of the Year, and his smarts and instincts on the field were key to his outstanding success. Many would think his knowledge of the game might lead to a stint in coaching. Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury doesn’t think so.

When asked about where he thinks JJ Watt could wind up after football, he had a different vision.

“I would say Hollywood before coaching. He and The Rock would make a good team.”

Kingsbury sees Watt on the big screen, and for good reason. The pass rusher has made appearances on television shows like The LeagueSaturday Night Live, and New Girl. He was also spotted making his movie debut in Bad Moms back in 2016.

It would be easy to see Watt continuing that path to Hollywood, and many fans seem eager for it to happen.

One person wrote, “He’s got some comedy chops. I could definitely see him playing a Terry Crews/The Rock type role.” Another said, “He was good in Bad Moms.”

Time will tell what JJ Watt plans to do post-football. Don’t be surprised if you see him in a theater near you sometime soon.
