Three months into 2020, I still feel like I’m in a bad dream.

Mourning one of the greatest sports icon of a generation has proved tough in the midst of a global pandemic, but the Mamba’s legacy will endure far longer than this goddamn virus.

One man is doing his part to ensure Kobe’s legacy lives on by way of an expansive tattoo of Bryant and his daughter Gigi on his lower left leg.

The Kobe fan employed the services of famed artist Steve Butcher, who has inked NBA players like Lonzo Ball and Matt Barnes. Butcher did not disappoint.

The man incorporated the image of Kobe and Gigi’s jerseys laid over courtside seats during a Lakers game in the days following their deaths.

(Try to ignore the unforgivable Jordan tattoo on the other leg.)

The art piece was even recognized by Vanessa Bryant, who took to social media to endorse the work.

“Just came across this,” Vanessa said Thursday. “So amazing. What a BEAUTIFUL tribute to my Gigi and Kobe. Kobe would never want to outshine our baby girl. Thank you for honoring them together❤️”

Butcher has been hard at work tattooing Kobe tributes for customers all over the country in the months following the tragedy.

Here are a few of his greatest hits.

Legends never die.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
