Former LSU Tigers star wide receiver and top 2025 NFL Draft prospect Kyren Lacy is wanted by Louisiana state police on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run according to local news station WAFB 9. The report states that the charges stem from an traffic accident on Dec. 17  that killed a former Marine and injured two others.

Police allege that Lacy caused the crash before speeding away from the scene and failing to report his involvement to police. Louisiana state police also allege Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger south on LA Highway 20 and “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.”

The 24-year-old Louisiana native declared for the NFL Draft just two days after the alleged crime.

Kyren Lacy Had Controversial Senior Season With LSU Tigers

Lacy spent two seasons playing college football for Louisiana-Lafayette before transferring to LSU in 2022. He racked up 112 catches for 1,692 yards and 16 touchdowns in three seasons for the Tigers. However, he most well-known for his fake gun celebrations which earned him multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties this season.

“That wasn’t malice. He’s such a high-strung young man that’s all he works on,” LSU coach Brian Kelly said of the celebrations. “He’s in the locker room saying, ‘I need to maintain my emotional control.’ He’s working so hard on that. That’s why I was so angry, I was angry at the circumstances because he’s going on it.”

However, former SEC star Cam Newton called out Lacy for the gesture.

“First off, if you were in college, you ain’t a thug. Let’s be real—that ain’t what you’re about..and that’s a good thing,” Newton said. “You insinuating a gun, that sh– is lame as f–k. Football ain’t a place where thugs can mingle. I ain’t never seen Lil Wayne on the football field…so I see that celebration, and I think that’s corny as f–k.”

Lacy is still wanted by police at the time or writing.
