Lamar Jackson has more than managed to hold his own on the gridiron during the seven seasons he’s spent as the starting QB for the Ravens. He’s no stranger to being on television, but he’ll be appearing on screens for a different reason after landing his first-ever acting gig courtesy of the show that tapped him for a role.

There are a number of NFL players who eventually decided to make the leap to acting, and Jim Brown, O.J. Simpson, and Terry Crews (the last of whom had a fairly brief career as a defensive end that saw him play for the Packers, Chargers, and the team now known as the Commanders) are probably the most notable names on that list.

There are also plenty of guys who’ve either played themselves in a movie or television show or got the chance to flex their thespian muscles in a relatively small role, and that second club is about to welcome a new member in the form of Lamar Jackson.

It doesn’t seem like the man who’s been the starting QB for the Ravens since 2018 has plans to abandon that gig at any point in the near future, but according to People, he decided to step out of his comfort zone and onto the set of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, the Starz series that recently kicked off its fourth season earlier this month.

It’s safe to assume Jackson’s schedule played a role in his contributions being limited to a single (and unspecified) episode.

Details are somewhat scarce, but he told the outlet he’ll be playing E-Tone, who he described as a “deadly, dangerous character” who is “not to be messed with” affiliated with Unique, the drug lord played by Joey Bada$$, the Brooklyn rapper who’s had a recurring role on Power Book: III since it premiered in 2021.

Only time will tell if this is a glimpse at Jackson’s life after football, and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares when the episode ends up airing.
