LeBron James has to be out here wondering, “when the hell did everyone get so sensitive?” The Los Angeles Lakers star, who routinely cheers on his oldest son, Bronny James, at his youth hoops games, is getting a lot of slack from people for jumping onto the court last weekend to throw down monstrous dunks, which people think is stealing attention away from the kids warming up for the games. It’s legit so weak. Honestly, what’s wrong with the best basketball player on the planet still having the enthusiasm of a teenager when he’s around a court? What’s wrong with him being involved in his son’s life? Why are people so up in arms about him having fun with a bunch of kids even though he’s worth a bajillion dollars? You don’t see other superstar athletes or celebs doing shit like this — and it’s not because it’s weird, it’s because they’re “too cool.”

While everyone seems to offer up opinions on LeBron James’ “behavior” this past weekend, one AAU star, Dior Johnson, came to the defense of the four-time NBA MVP. Johnson cited James showing such enthusiasm during a game in which his son wasn’t even playing, and then talked about how his own dad has never seen him play, which is why having LeBron’s support means so much to him. Take a look at Johnson’s reply to a tweet which said James was showing “bizarre childlike behavior,” which also called him a “weirdo”.

This is another awesome sign of support for LeBron, and another example of one of the kids talking about how James’ involvement is leaving a meaningful impact on them. Remember, just a few days ago, another boy’s parent talked about a pep talk LeBron James gave to his son, with the kid immediately breaking down into tears of joy after the Lakers star delivered encouraging words. Again, why’s it a problem for James to be so involved in his kid’s life?

Need further proof that LeBron James being excited to see these kids play means a lot to them? Check out some of the engagement from the players to James on social media, with both sides offering up support to one another.

There’s a saying that real recognizes real, and, for anyone who’s pissed off that LeBron James isn’t just being part of his son’s life, but also using his energy and love of hoops to inspire other kids, they’ll never be real enough to understand why this goes far beyond basketball. Fuck the haters.
