Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson (22) talks to a teammates after she went into the stands to confront a fan during game two of the first round for the 2026 WNBA Playoffs against the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson defended her off-court altercation with an Indiana Fever fan during the opening round of the playoffs by claiming that the fan acted in an unruly manner that would never happen to NBA superstar LeBron James.

The lie detector test has since determined that that was a lie.

Wilson went into the stands during Game 2 of the three-game series against Indiana to confront a fan who had pointed in her direction following a foul. She was assessed a technical foul. But by the rules, she seemingly should have both been ejected from the game and suspended for Game 3. Instead, neither occurred, and Wilson was dominant in a Game 3 victory that gave the Aces the series win.

A’ja Wilson Makes Incorrect Claim About Treatment Of LeBron James

“I try to play my game … but if I am just walking, just got the foul, I’m chilling and I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said,” Wilson said of the incident. “I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone. That is unacceptable. You don’t step toward me. You never should sit and point at me. That there is unacceptable.”

“No way he does that to LeBron [James],” she added.

The WNBA opted not to suspend Wilson, claiming that she remained on the court inside a designated “player escape lane.”

But what about the LeBron James claim? As it turns out, it took just a matter of days for that to be proven wrong.

During Thursday’s preseason game between James’ Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets, an older gentlemen stepped toward the court, directly next to the basket, and pointed at James as he was shooting free throws.

Rather than run into the stands, James simply pointed back and shot his free throw.

Sorry A’ja. It appears your story doesn’t hold up to scrutiny this time around.
