LeBron James, like many of us, read earlier this week about how George Clooney finally confirmed that he once gave 14 of his closest friends $1 million in cash (all twenties) and explained why he did it.

Clooney also shared how exactly one goes about acquiring $14 million in twenties and how while transporting the dough a couple of security guys “were sh*tting themselves.”

Based on a tweet James posted on Wednesday, it sounds like he would like to do the same for his close circle of friends.

It was also revealed on Wednesday that James, like pretty much every celebrity with a few extra million just sitting around, is getting into the liquor game with an investment in Lobos 1707 Tequila & Mezcal.

That’s right. Just like Michael Jordan did last year when he launched a tequila brand, Cincoro, James is yet again following along behind the GOAT.

“If it’s organic to who I am or what I’m doing, then it’s a lot easier for me to be a part of something,” LeBron told the Wall Street Journal about the new venture.

“I was in a perfect place in my life. Me and my friends were trying different tequilas. I actually bought a place with Maverick Carter in Cabo a few years ago. There’s obviously a big tequila heritage there.”

Dia Simms, the woman who helped Diddy turn Ciroc into a billion dollar business will be the new CEO of LeBron’s line of tequila.

Speaking of billion dollar liquor brands, Clooney also famously sold his Casamigos tequila to Diageo in a deal worth around $1 billion in 2017. Something James is very well aware of.

“Let me build @Lobos1707 to a B and my close friends may be getting the same. #AllForThePack,” LeBron tweeted, with a link the the Clooney story.

Other investors in Lobos 1707 with James are Maverick Carter, Anthony Davis, Draymond Green, and Rich Paul.

Reactions to LeBron’s tweet were especially entertaining and exactly what one would expect.
