Tragically, former LSU women’s basketball star Danielle Ballard, aged 29, lost her life in a fatal car crash in Memphis on Thursday, according to local news outlet WREG-TV.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Coleman Road and Raleigh Lagrange Road, prompting a swift response from Memphis police.

Authorities had received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, and Ballard was rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver responsible for the accident remained at the scene, cooperating with the authorities. As of now, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.

Danielle Ballard, a talented 5-foot-9 guard, left an indelible mark on LSU women’s basketball. She received the prestigious honor of being selected as First-Team All-SEC for the 2014-15 season, as recognized by coaches.

Throughout her three seasons with the Tigers, Ballard showcased her remarkable skills, averaging 12.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
