Mac McClung has officially declared for the 2020 NBA Draft but will maintain eligibility at Georgetown during the process. Maybe you’re reading this and you don’t recognize that name, but you should know it, McClung is a living legend.

White men can jump. Or maybe we should say, white man can jump.

The 6-foot-2 guard from Virginia absolutely dominated YouTube, and every court he stepped on, during his high school days thanks to having actual pogo sticks as legs. He picked up quite a bit of hype for throwing down reverse windmill dunks all over every kid in Virginia. It wasn’t just his dunks, though, he showed off his pull up game and three-point shot on his way to eclipsing Allen Iverson’s high school scoring record.

He was only a three-star recruit out of high school, but McClung decided to take his leaping abilities and crazy explosiveness to Georgetown where he actually put together a rather strong two years despite flying under the radar a bit.

Obviously going from smalltown high school basketball in Virginia to Big East hoops is quite a leap, but as a freshman, he averaged 13.1 points appearing in 29 games for the Hoyas en route to being named to the Big East all-freshman team. This past season he averaged 15.7 points per game and shot over 32% from three-point land. McClung was bitten by the injury bug, however, as he only appeared in 21 games as a sophomore.

Nevertheless, McClung and his camp clearly believe it’s time to take his talents to the NBA.

McClung’s handles, athleticism and ability to pull up and pop will allow him to hang with a lot of NBA players, but his heigh is going to likely limit him to being a team’s sixth man at best. Now having said that being a go-to sixth man on an NBA roster isn’t too bad of a gig.

If the NBA does come calling for McClung this summer, don’t be shocked if you see him in the NBA Dunk Contest next year.
