Beloved former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch recently appaeared on the SmartLess podcast and the man known as “Beast Mode” certainly did not disappoint.

Having appeared on his hilarious Netflix series Murderville (Marshawn’s episode, in particular, is a must-watch), Lynch has a connection and friendship with Will Arnett, who co-hosts he podcast with his friends and fellow actors Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.

During the interview, the topic of Marshawn’s former coach Pete Carroll came up and the 37-year-old did not hold back when sharing his feelings about him.

“Alright, bruh, you talkin’ too much. Like, I don’t want to talk, I just want to bust motherf—— heads and you keep talkin’, you damn near talkin’ me out of going to bust some motherf—— heads now,” Lynch said of Carroll’s ‘rah-rah’ speeches to the team. “I don’t need rah, rah, rah, and he [Carroll] was that type of guy, so, anytime I could eliminate the rah, rah, rah, I would do that.”

Lynch then explained how he would largely get important information about the Seahawks’ offensive from offensive line coach Tom Cable because he felt Carroll was “too much.”

“It’s funny you talk about Pete Carroll because, at the time, he had gotten another coach over there, Tom Cable, and that was my connection. Tom Cable and Coach Sherman. Those were my connections to the team, that was how I got the information. Because Pete, he was too much for me.”

Marshawn then did a hilarious impression of Carroll as he recalled what it would be like to run into the Seahawks head coach at the team facility during the early hours of the morning.

“I would come into the locker room at, maybe, 4 o’clock in the morning and I’d see Pete coming into the office and be like [impersonating a highly-energized Carroll]: ‘Hey buddy! How ya doin! Gonna be a great day today! Hey! Hey!'”

“And you’d be like, ‘What the f—?’ Ay, n—-, it’s 5 o’clock in the morning, bruh, cool out.’ It didn’t matter if you seen him at breakfast, he comes into meetings that same way, you see the motherf—– at lunch, same way. Practice field, after practice in the meetings, and when he going home. It’s like “This motherf—– gotta be a robot.”

Unfortunately, however, none of the three hosts were either smart enough or brave enough to ask about Carroll’s decision to throw the ball at the goal line instead of running it during the 2015 Super Bowl, which infamously resulted in Russell Wilson throwing a game-losing interception.

Marshawn’s entire interview on SmartLess is worth listening to, but if you just want to hear the Carroll tidbit, it starts around the 41-minute mark.
