The Buffalo Bills had been playing great football the last three weeks coming into Sunday morning’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, England. But, things went awry, as the Bills lost, 25-20, and lost All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano to an injury that could keep him out for a considerable amount of time.

Milano appeared to injure his knee in the first half, and was taken off on a cart. After the game, the news was not good.

Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott was not optimistic either after the game, saying, “I know it’s not looking good right now.”

It’s a huge loss for a Buffalo Bills defense that has been absolutely decimated by injuries. All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White suffered a season-ending injury last week. Breakout star defensive end Gregory Rousseau was also out this week with an injury. The team did get future Hall of Fame defensive end Von Miller back from the torn ACL he suffered last season today, but it’s a beat-up unit.

As big of a loss as White is, Matt Milano may be bigger. The 29-year-old off-ball linebacker has been steadily improving since Buffalo selected him in the fifth round back in 2017. He may be the best all-around off-ball outside linebacker in the league. Known for his ability to play sideline-to-sideline as well arguably the best cover skills of any linebacker, his versatility allows that defense to do a lot of different things.

If Matt Milano is indeed out for the season, that’s a really impactful injury for the Buffalo Bills. They sit at 3-2 and in 2nd place in the AFC East.
