Not much has gone right for Matt Nagy since the Chicago Bears made the playoffs in 2018. That playoff run ended in the Wild Card Round with the “Double Doink” against an inferior Philadelphia Eagles squad.

The next two years saw the Bears struggle enough on offense so much that even a stout defense could only lead the team to a pair of 8-8 seasons. Then this year rolled around. The Bears were a disaster right from the start of the year.

At one point in the season, Nagy wouldn’t even tell the media whether his starting quarterback in a particular week would be Andy Dalton, Nick Foles, or Justin Fields. It was a perfect embodiment of this team’s disfunction.

The season ended with the Bears sporting a 6-11 record, Matt Nagy looking for a new job, and Justin Fields seeming to have basically wasted the rookie year of his NFL career.

As it turns out, Nagy’s struggles with Fields and Mitch Turbisky before him were not enough to disqualify him from landing a job as a QB coach with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Luckily for Nagy, he won’t have to develop a young quarterback in his new role. It’s also a role where he succeeded in his first stint with the Chiefs. He managed to help draw quite a bit of success out of Alex Smith during his time as QB coach and then offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Both Nagy and Andy Reid will be hoping he can get back to whatever worked in those seasons as the Chiefs try to overcome a ton of talented opposition as they attempt to make their way back to the Super Bowl.
