Mattress Mack was down BAD watching Game 7 of the ALCS between the Rangers and Astros. The notable sports bettor had a potential $25 million payout riding on Houston.

As he’s done in years past, the mattress store mogul placed a plethora of future World Series wagers on his hometown team. It paid off for him last season with the Astros taking down the Phillies in the final seven-game set.

It didn’t pay off this time around.

Texas came out swinging in the decisive final game, roping three home runs over the first six innings to take an early lead. A 440-foot first inning shot by Corey Seager got the scoring started, and it wouldn’t stop as the visitors took an 11-3 advantage.

Astros fans were crushed.

Prior to the series against the Rangers, Mattress Mack placed three bets on the Astros. Each differed in size and odds, but they all had one common theme – An Astros championship.

Laying down a cool $3 million across the three wagers, the tickets had a combined payout of $26.5 million. That initial down payment will instead become a donation to the sportsbooks after a massive Rangers blowout.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Mattress Mack down on his luck.

In fact, he’s been known to place the hex on the teams he bets on. While he was able to take home that World Series win in 2022, he has a history of picking the wrong side.

That goes for bets across a number of sports, many of which involve teams in the Lonestar State.

He was on the losing end again this time around with the Astros dropping Game 7 of the ALCS, 11-4. That likely won’t stop him from backing Houston next season.
