The NCAA Tournament’s round of 64 opened with a clash between a blue blood that barely made the tournament field and a mid-major that impressed many throughout the season. That didn’t look like the dynamic in this game. Colorado State had the early advanced by eventually succumbed tot the defense of Michigan.

This game was all Colorado State early on. The Rams came out firing from 3 to take control of the first half. At one point, their lead extended as far as 15 in the half. However, they left the door open for Michigan at the end of the half.

Michigan cut the lead to 7 by halftime, with the last point coming off of a really pointless foul at half court with 3 seconds left to send the Wolverines to the line.

Then the Wolverines really turned things around early in the second half. They really turned up the pressure on the Colorado State offense, forcing them into tough shots and creating turnovers.

With 12:52 left in the 2nd half, Michigan took their first lead of the game at 45-44.

The teams would go back and forth for a few possessions before Caleb Houston gave them a lead they wouldn’t surrender the rest of the game. Colorado State remained ice cold from the field for the rest of the half, missing a few easy attempts around the basket. Michigan slowly built their lead, eventually getting it out to double digits.

Michigan would end up winning the game by a score of 75-63 and will now take on the winner of the game between Tennessee and Longwood.
