There are few, if any, sets of soccer fans who are as passionate (yeah, let’s go with passionate) as those in the Turkish Super Lig.

Unfortunately, sometimes those fans take things a little too far. Which has resulted in them being banned from attending games altogether in the past.

On Sunday, fans of Turkish club Trabzonspor once again crossed a line when they rushed the field and tried to attack opposing players following a 3-2 loss to visiting Fenerbache.

One fans, however, learned their lesson the hard way when they were hit with a roundhouse kick from Fenerbache striker Michy Batshuayi.

Batshuayi, a Belgian star who has previously played for powerhouse clubs Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, appeared to size up the fan as he saw them coming. He then turned and delivered a Frank Dux-esque kick that caught the onrushing man both in the shoulder and seemingly part of the face.

Undeterred, the man continued running and eventually landed a punch to the face of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominic Livakovic. Thankfully, Livakovic seemed unharmed and was able to safely continue into the locker room. The fan was eventually apprehended by stadium security.

Turkish Authorities Arrested Man Who Michy Batshuayi Roundhouse Kicked

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya later said on social media platform X that authorities had launched an investigation into the end of the match brawl and to identify the fans who had stormed the pitch.

“After the Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe football match played this evening, identification efforts regarding the spectators entering the field and an investigation into the events that took place after the match were immediately launched,” he wrote. “Sports is, above all, sportsmanship. It is never acceptable for violence to occur on football fields. The public will be informed about the developments.”

Yerlikaya later revealed that 12 fans were caught and detained. With the man who approached and struck Livakovic among them.

What comes next is anyone’s guess. But the fan should probably just be happy that Batshuayi’s kick didn’t connect more cleanly.
