Angels Fans Fear The Worst As Mike Trout Leaves Game With Wrist Injury

Until Shohei Ohtani came along, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was the greatest player of this generation. The outfielder is a serious competitor to Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays as the greatest center fielder of all time. But, the big issue in his career has been injuries.

His numbers are tremendous. At just 31 years old, Mike Trout has won three MVP’s and been runner-up four times. He’s finished in the top ten of WAR 10 times, and his career OPS+ of 174 only trails Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, Barry Bonds, and Rogers Hornsby in the history of Major League Baseball. I’d say that’s quite the list.

But, recently, he just hasn’t been able to stay healthy. It’s not as if he has had any catastrophic injuries. But, he hasn’t played more than 140 games since 2016. He missed 136 games in 2021 and and 43 games in 22. So far in 2023, he’s been able to stay healthy, missing only 6 of 87 games so far due to scheduled rest.

That all changed Monday night, though, when Mike Trout left the game with an injury.

According to ESPN, here is what he had to say after the game about the injury.

“I just took a swing and something felt uncomfortable,” Trout said. “Just waiting on getting some scans and hope for the best.

“It doesn’t feel great. I mean, there’s no two ways to it,” the three-time American League MVP added. “Hopefully, just a sprained wrist. I can’t describe the pain I felt. I never felt it before, ever, before this. I never had wrist problems or anything. Just freak things.”

He underwent X-Rays, and as of early Tuesday Morning, they were not available.

And, Angels fans aren’t taking the Mike Trout injury news well.

It’s a blow to all of baseball for him to be out, too.
