The New York Jets have been looking to upgrade their offense this offseason. With the expected return of Aaron Rodgers from his Achilles injury, the team knows their window to win with Rodgers is running out.

On Tuesday, they did indeed upgrade their offense, signing star receiver Mike Williams to pair with Garrett Wilson to form one of the league’s best receiver tandem. And, they may have used a secret recruiting weapon to get Mike Williams to sign on the dotted line.

First things first. The former Charger first-round pick was traded in a cost-cutting measure earlier this month as the Chargers look to rebuild under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. The team has also traded fellow stud wideout Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears.

The Jets were mentioned early on as contenders to sign Mike Williams, and they got their chance at a visit with him on Thursday. One Jets fan wanted to make sure the wide receiver got a true taste of the New York metro.

Here’s the New York Post with more.

Content creator @NYJ_Matt was inspired Tuesday morning to order a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese – the truly authentic New Jersey breakfast sandwich – on DoorDash and have it delivered to the Jets facility for receiver Mike Williams.

The Jets’ social media account played along with the idea, tweeting out a photo of the sandwich in a bag sitting on a desk in the main lobby after it arrived.

For those unfamiliar with Taylor ham, it’s otherwise known as pork roll, and it’s a process pork product that is absolutely delicious. As the New York Post said, it’s a local classic, and as someone who has had a lot of them, they are excellent.

We don’t know for sure that Mike Williams consumed the sandwich, but he did sign with the Jets on Tuesday.

It’s way more fun to think that the sandwich had a huge role in landing Mike Williams, so that’s what I’m going to believe.

The Jets are hoping that he can regain his 2021 form, when he had 1146 yards and 9 touchdowns and played sixteen games. Injuries have been a problem for Williams throughout his career dating back to his college career at Clemson from 2013-2016. He’s only played in sixteen games total the last two seasons, and just three last season.

But, if he and the rest of the Jets offense could stay healthy, they could be a huge boost to a team that already has a great defense.
