Minnesota minor league baseball player Walker Jenkins jumped into action to attend to a young fan in need of assistance Wednesday. He quickly dropped what he was doing to offer help.

Videos of Jenkins carrying the youngster to medical staff have surfaced online. He deserves praise for his swift response during a scary moment.

The heroics came in the pregame leadup to a matchup between the St. Paul Saints and Buffalo Bisons. Kids were able to walk out onto the field for the national anthem. Jenkins was accompanied by a boy named Lincoln.

The outfielder stood side-by-side with Lincoln in the grass for pregame festivities. The practice is a cool way of getting young fans involved. This instance had a brief scare.

While on the field, the boy lost his balance. He was wobbly to the point of falling to the ground. I don’t want to speculate too much on the situation. Maybe it was overheating. Maybe he blacked out.

Whatever the case, Jenkins came to the rescue quickly.

The centerfielder caught the child before he tumbled to the ground and proceeded to carry him 250 feet to medical staff in the dugout.

Jenkins didn’t quite know what to make of the scene, but he didn’t bat an eye. He looked befuddled upon handing Lincoln off to trainers. Thankfully, all appears to be well.

The team provided an update on Lincoln’s status moments later. They even sent him off with some new merch.

Jenkins’ fast response may or may not have made a difference but refused to risk the youngster’s safety.

Who is Walker Jenkins?

The 21-year-old is a former first-round pick selected with the fifth overall choice in the 2023 MLB Draft. A North Carolina native, he bypassed college to enter the professional ranks.

St. Paul is the AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Jenkins has been able to quickly elevate through the farm system with hopes of soon making his MLB debut.

The outfielder is the top prospect in the organization with an estimated call-up of 2026. He’s currently hitting .273 across 30 games with the Saints.

On Wednesday, he showed incredible awareness in a hectic situation. He’s being applauded by fans across social media.

Hopefully, his professional baseball rise continues in the days to come. He’s earned a few more supporters that hope to soon see him in a Twins uniform.
