A number of minor league baseball teams have welcomed “bat dogs” into the fold to provide fans with some extra entertainment at games. That includes one canine that’s employed by a White Sox affiliate in North Carolina that did its business in the middle of a game before an employee decided to use his bare hands to clean up after it.
Minor league baseball teams are constantly dreaming up creative ways to lure fans to games and make sure they have a good time once they arrive at the ballpark, and close to two dozen of them currently boast a “bat dog” that’s tasked with picking up discarded lumber near home plate.
The Trenton Thunder are widely credited with being the first minor league baseball team to use a dog to retrieve bats after a Golden Retriever named Chase made his debut in 2002, and other squads quickly followed suit after he became a bit of a sensation.
That includes the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, the North Carolina-based Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, who’ve been getting some assistance from a yellow lab named Kacey Betty at Atrium Ballpark since 2023.
Over the weekend, the Cannon Ballers hosted the Carolina Mudcats for a Mother’s Day showdown where Kacey Betty was doing her thing in the bottom of the third inning when she popped a squat behind home plate after nature called.
Now, you have to give credit where credit is due to the Kannapolis employee who didn’t waste any time leaping into action in order to clean up the mess to make sure the bowel movement didn’t interfere with the game.
With that said, I think most people in the stadium would have understood if he’d taken an extra few of seconds to track down a bag, paper towel, or another object that would have allowed him to dispose of the poop without scooping it up with his bare hand.
That’s one hell of a shit

Now, it does look like the guy covered the poop in a bunch of dirt before depositing it on the paper he used to transport it off the field and toward a trash can, but that doesn’t really make it much less disgusting.
