The Nebraska Cornhuskers got the whole family involved at spring practice this season. Moms of Nebraska football players were seen tackling their sons and running drills as they got to be a part of the program.

Fans online loved the on-field participation, resulting in a huge reaction on social media.

The Huskers are in a state of transition under new head coach Matt Rhule. Rhule, who comes over after a stint in the NFL, is hoping to restore a once proud program to glory.

While his tenure with the Carolina Panthers didn’t go according to plan, he’s been a proven coach at the collegiate level. Rhule has led previous turnarounds at Baylor and Temple, and he looks to do the same in Lincoln.

Nebraska has been in a rut of late, coming off of a brutal couple of seasons under Scott Frost. Frost, who was fired midseason following a loss to Georgia Southern, never recorded a winning season.

With the change at the helm, Rhule appears to be bringing a family atmosphere to the program. It was on full display in the latest team drills.

Moms of players were seen tackling their sons as a way of being a part of the on-field action.

Fans absolutely loved it.

One person wrote, “Incredible. That looked like so much fun!” Someone else wrote, “So cool seeing the program find new ways to create a family welcoming atmosphere.”

Many of the moms that participated in the football drills chimed in to express how much fun they had with the Nebraska team.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen something like this, but most would agree that it should be even more prevalent.

The Cornhuskers will kick off their 2023 season on August 31st against Minnesota. Some of these Nebraska football moms will surely be in attendance.
