Despite signing him to a four-year, $160 million contract extension not even 365 days ago, the New York Giants are reportedly through with quarterback Daniel Jones.

According to radio host Rich Eisen, New York City’s NFC franchise reportedly has “buyer’s remorse” as they are “absolutely done” with Jones.

“No. 3 of my top-five rumors I heard at the Combine are the Giants are absolutely done with Daniel Jones. Done. Done. Might have to play him this year, but that ain’t it. And they feel … the words I heard at the Combine, multiple times, two words: buyer’s remorse,” Rich Eisen said on Monday after covering the NFL Combine over the weekend.

Since being drafted out of Duke University with the #6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Jones has played in 60 total games for the Giants, starting 59 of them.

In those 60 games, Jones has compiled a 22-36-1 record, while completing 64% of his passes for 12,512 yards, 75 touchdowns, and 62 interceptions

Jone is an effective dual-threat quarterback, as he’s also carried the ball 332 times for 1,914 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The best season of Jones’ career came in 2022, his first under head coach Brian Daboll. Not only was it the best statistical season of his career, but it’s the only season in which he’s posted a winning record. This is, of course, the season that led to the Giants handing him the four-year contract extension that they now regret.

The Giants currently have the #6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they likely won’t be in a position to select one of the draft’s top 3 QB prospects, who are widely considered to be Caleb Williams of USC, Drake Maye of UNC, and Jayden Daniels of LSU.

Not only have the Giants apparently decided they’re ready to move on from Jones, but they’re also beginning the process of parting ways with running back Saquon Barkley, as it was reported on March 5 that they team will not be giving the Pro Bowler their franchise tag, therefore allowing him to hit free agency.
