As Jerry Seinfeld once said, “You ever notice a lot of butlers are named Jeeves? When you name a baby Jeeves, you pretty much mapped out his future, wouldn’t you say? Not much chance he’s gonna be a hit man.”

And while I’m not sure exactly what a little girl named after Taysom Hill might grow up to be one day, I’m fairly certain she won’t be a Rhodes scholar.

Perhaps that’s a bit harsh, but this is what happens when you show up to an NFL game with a giant sign revealing that you named your daughter after 33-year-old New Orleans Saints tight end/quarterback/wide receiver/special teamer.

Not only is the child named after the former undrafted free agent out of BYU, but it’s spelled “Taesym”, which is certainly… a choice.

To be fair to this woman and young Taesym, it’s not as though Hill is an entirely uninspired choice, as he’ll likely be remembered as one of the most versatile players in the history of the National Football League.

Since joining the Saints in 2017, Hill (as of Week 13, 2023) has completed 190 of 293 passes (64.8%) for 2,337 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He’s also carried the ball 367 times for 2,019 yards and 26 touchdowns and has caught 65 passes for 624 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Unfortunately for this Saints fan, she wound up disclosing the personal family information during a loss, as the Saints ultimately fell at home to the Lions by a score of 33-28, unable to overcome the 21 points they allowed them to score in the 1st quarter.

They did, however, get to see Hill in action, as he attempted two passes (didn’t complete either), caught two passes for 15 yards, and carried the ball 13 times for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Due to the loss to the Lions, the Saints record dropped to 5-7, which puts them in third place in the NFC South. New Orleans is still alive in the playoff race, though, as their division is lead by the 6-6 Atlanta Falcons, who they play on the final day of the season at home.
