NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged that the league has entertained the idea of hosting a Super Bowl in London.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on the discussions, highlighting that while the concept is not on the immediate horizon, it hasn’t been ruled out entirely.

Speaking at a fan forum in London, Goodell shared, “It is not impossible, and it is something that has been discussed before.” He emphasized that the current priority remains playing Super Bowls in cities where NFL franchises are based.

Sources around the NFL hinted to Schefter at the likelihood of a London Super Bowl in the future, it is far from becoming a reality.

The upcoming three Super Bowls are already scheduled at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (February 2024), Caesars Superdome in New Orleans (February 2025), and Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California (February 2026).

While the notion of a London-based Super Bowl has not gained significant traction yet, one league source told Schefter that it “would make sense.” Goodell echoed this sentiment.

There was also a discussion about the NFL possibly having a franchise overseas.

Most NFL fans probably wouldn’t like losing the Super Bowl to London but Roger Goodell has been aggressive in expanding the game worldwide.
