Many people who play golf would point to the tranquil nature of the courses where it’s played as a major part of the sport’s appeal. However, one track in Ohio was anything but that after it was invaded by an attempted murder suspect and a horde of police cars engaged in a high-speed pursuit.

There are plenty of golfers who head to the course to relax only to find themselves more wound up after their round than they were before they hit the links, but if you don’t take things too seriously, it can be a very solid way to decompress for a few hours.

Most courses offer a bit of an escape from reality while thrusting you into an environment that’s usually designed to transport you away from the real world for a bit and immerse you in a serene setting that’s largely free of noisy distractions.

However, that was certainly not the case for a few minutes at one in Ohio on Tuesday evening.

Multiple people filmed a police chase that spilled onto Fox Den Golf Course in Ohio

According to News5 Cleveland, police in Summit County, Ohio received an alert on Tuesday afternoon concerning a man named Julius Edwards, who was wanted in connection with an attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend in Canton that morning and managed to elude police in that city as well (as the U.S. Marshals) after fleeing in a gray Kia Telluride.

State troopers were dispatched after the vehicle was spotted in Hudson around 7:30 PM, which sparked a chase that resulted in Edwards fleeing from his SUV after running a red light and colliding with another vehicle. He traded gunshots with officers who continued to pursue him on foot, and law enforcement established a perimeter after he fled into the woods.

Edwards allegedly carjacked the Chrysler Town & Country he was seen driving at 8:25, which led to a second chase that made its way into the town of  Stow and onto Fox Den Golf Course, where multiple people who were playing at the time pulled out their phones to record the wild scene they witnessed.

The chase eventually made its way off the course and ended when Edwards crashed into a Summit Metro Parks Police cruiser that rolled over in the wake of the collision (the officer driving it bailed out of the vehicle just before impact). He tried to make another run for it, but he was finally apprehended.

It’s unclear exactly what Edwards has been booked for after being arrested, but it seems safe to assume he’ll be facing a slew of charges on top of the attempted murder that triggered the chain of events.
