Ole Miss Fan Welcomes Lane Kiffin To Oxford By Handing Him His Baby And Telling Him To Get A Burner Phone

Lane Kiffin is the new head coach of the Ole Miss football team. He inherits a program that has been through a lot not only in the past couple of weeks with one of its players imitating a dog taking a piss, but with NCAA sanctions the past couple of years prior to the most recent season.

Ole Miss officially announced the hire on Saturday, but Kiffin arrived on campus Sunday evening and was greeted by a large number of fans at the Oxford airport.

One fan stood out, however, as he not only handed over his baby for Kiffin to hold for a bit but when he took the baby back from Kiffin he mentioned that the former FAU head coach should get himself a burner phone.

As an Ole Miss fan myself, I just have to say, hats off to this fan for just keeping things real.

Former head coach Hugh Freeze, of course, got caught calling an escort service on a cell phone, not a burner, back when he was in charge in Oxford. This fan simply doesn’t want that same fate for Kiffin and you can’t blame him for keeping things real with his new head coach.

This is the perfect example of the culture change that is coming at Ole Miss.

Sure, the program has been through a lot, but as someone that has suffered through fandom of this school for 20+ years, it’s unbelievably refreshing to see them go in a completely different direction with the latest hire. All it comes down to is a culture change, culture change, and more culture change.

It may crash and burn with Kiffin, but at least this program that has lived in the past for the most part throughout its history took a swing at a hire.
