Pat McAfee isn't too busy to keep up with his haters on social media


 

Pat McAfee is on ESPN six out of the week’s seven days. He still has time to keep up with all the negative tweets about him, though.

With his reported ~$60 million salary apparently not enough to dry his tears, omnipresent ESPN personality Pat McAfee took to social media to post a lengthy tweet complaining about trolls on social media.

Pat McAfee called out a fake post from @ShaneTuttleNCAA that falsely claimed he picked Donald Trump to win Texas vs. Tennessee

The tweet that seemingly triggered McAfee came from a parody account — the first words in its bio are “Everything I do is satire” — claiming he chose “America” while the GameDay crew gave their Texas vs. Tennessee picks.

McAfee, however, categorized the post as “misinformation” and crusaded for X to put a community note on the post (which it did).

The former Indianapolis Colts punter also recently blasted an account for tweeting about him being “kirked” during his show.

McAfee’s grievances with troll accounts certainly provide a fascinating window into his psychology. McAfee was won: he’s perhaps the highest-paid person in sports media and has branched out into endeavors such as acting and music.

And yet, despite this, the phrases “the lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinion of the sheep” or “success is the best revenge” obviously haven’t entered his headspace, as he’s still getting triggered by faceless X accounts.

Beyond the ultimate pointlessness of letting Twitter trolls anger him, there’s also the fact that he’s nearly 40 years old and could simply log off.

“Jfc dude. You talk so much s— and then whine about some dudes saying you suck? I get being upset with the Kirk tweet. But the others are just dudes saying you suck and ruin the morning show. Becoming insufferable,” read one of the top replies to McAfee’s tweet.
