A lesser man would not have been able to withstand the barrage of haymakers thrown at his moneymaker, but light heavyweight Patrick Cummins is a tough son’a bitch. In the second fight of the Long Island main card in Saturday’s UFC on Fox 25, Cummins (10-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) went toe-to-toe with the powerful New Yorker Gian Villante (15-9 MMA, 5-6 UFC).

After three rounds of vicious fighting, Cummins squeaked by with the split decision victory, his second W in a row after a tough 1-3 stretch.

Despite winning the bout, the 36-year-old did not look like the victor, evident in this photo he tweeted in the back of an ambulance after the match. Cummins was not made available for post-match questioning, as he was immediately carted off to the hospital for evaluation.

Cummins escaped with no major structural damage, thankfully. Check out some of the dope shots from last night’s war.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
