The New England Patriots are showing interest in former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

The Patriots have scheduled a workout with Fournette on Wednesday, ahead of the 2023 Training Camp.

Last season, Fournette played in 16 games for the Buccaneers, amassing 668 rushing yards and scoring three touchdowns.

During his six-year career, he has proved himself to be a reliable force on the field, particularly in the last two seasons, where he recorded nearly 1,500 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Additionally, his partnership with the GOAT, Tom Brady, has helped him grow as a receiving threat, catching an impressive 178 passes for 1,210 yards and five touchdowns in three regular seasons together.

As a power back, Fournette’s physical style has garnered attention throughout his career. He originally entered the league as the fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft, joining the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Currently, the Patriots have two roster spots available, and Fournette’s visit hints at the possibility of adding him to their lineup as one of the top backups to star running back Rhamondre Stevenson.

Recently, Fournette was involved in a car accident where his SUV caught fire on the highway. However, he escaped safely from the incident.

As fans eagerly await the start of the 2023 Training Camp, all eyes will be on the Patriots to see if they decide to bring the experienced running back into their ranks once and for all. T
