By NBA standards, the sports league with more drama off the playing field than on, things have been rather quiet. After the insanity that was the draft and free agency, everyone must have needed to chill for a bit catch their breath.
Now however, with teams holding media days, it’s time to fire the NBA drama machine back up, and new Clippers star Paul George is here for it.
During Clippers media day this week, NBA.com’s Shaun Powell asked George if he and Kawhi Leonard are now the best duo of any team in the league.
“I think so. When you look at two guys that play both ends, two guys that can go and get a basket, two guys that can stop you from getting a basket,” replied George. “Elite on both ends. I don’t see how you can beat that.”

George, who will be out until November after surgery on both shoulders, isn’t necessarily wrong, but there are definitely arguments to made that he isn’t right.
For instance: LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. All are certainly in the conversation when it comes to the best current NBA duo.
Of course, fans being fans – you know, like the ones who booed George and Leonard IN LOS ANGELES – many had very rational, well-thought out responses to George’s claim. (You know I am being sarcastic, right?)
