Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. had his worst start of 2022 in Game 3 of the World Series. He gave up 5 home runs and 7 earned runs in just 4.1 innings pitched.

It has been widely speculated that Lance McCullers Jr. was inadvertently tipping his pitches to the Philadelphia Phillies players. Footage of Bryce Harper sharing a discrete message with his team after hitting a home run led to rampant speculation. As did side-by-side footage of MuCullers’ pitches.

But his trouble began long before he took the mound in Game 3 of the World Series. The Internet discovered this absolutely hilarious video of Phillies fans heckling Lance McCullers Jr. in the bullpen prior to the first pitch. The video has since gone viral with over a million views on TikTok and hundreds of thousands more on Twitter.

And here’s the TikTok:

Some of those choice one-liners include “McCullers, I heard you’ve got terrible swamp a– before every start.” That’s the chirp that kicked it all off. He followed it up with “McCullers, Hoskins got with your girlfriend in high school… TWICE.” The slow roll of the ‘TWICE’ there was certain to be heard.

The heckler then came in with “that is getting SMOKED by Harper” which, of course, it did. Bryce Harper hit a home run in the first inning off Lance McCullers Jr. Perhaps the best chirp is “McCullers you need to figure it out, I haven’t seen a strike yet” which proved ominous.

Aaron Nola is set to start for the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 4 on Wednesday night. Christian Javier will take the mound for the Houston Astros. Javier is 1-0 in the 2022 Postseason with a 1.35 ERA in 6.2 innings pitched.

Nola is 2-1 in the Postseason this year with a 4.57 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. It seems likely Philly will have Nola on a short leash in this start.
