Phillies fans were spotted leaving Game 6 of the NLCS early in a 5-1 defeat. This, after spending the majority of the postseason claiming to be baseball’s most passionate supporters.

Many on social media are taking the moment to troll the fanbase.

Philadelphia entered the home game with a chance to close out the seven-game set and advance to the World Series. Bryce Harper seemed to have that on the brain when picking out his pregame outfit.

Dressed in all black, the slugger looked dressed for a funeral.

Unfortunately, it would be his team getting buried in front of the home crowd.

Arizona jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning thanks to back-to-back home runs off the bats of Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel.

The Phillies would keep fans in it with a run in the bottom of the frame, but it wouldn’t be enough.

The Diamondbacks would later plate two more runs to extend their advantage, leading to a mass departure of attendees.

Fans were quick to comment.

“I have never left a regular season game early let alone a playoff game.”

“But I thought this was the best environment in baseball?”

“I was told they’re the best fanbase in sports.”

“I get it’s a 4-run game but leaving a game where they could clinch a spot in the World Series is wild.”

Philadelphia fans have been vocal this series about boasting the best in-game atmosphere in baseball. Unfortunately, it didn’t show on Monday.

The two teams will now play in a decisive Game 7 with a World Series appearance on the line.
